COMPANY BACKGROUND

It has been the pleasure of Kent Heating and Air Conditioning to provide superior indoor comfort solutions to residents of Northwest Indiana for over 71 years.

August 24, 1954

Founded by Jim and Norma Kent, Jim started the business because he was an entrepreneur at heart. His spirit and strong work ethic propelled the growth of the company. In fact, Jim installed the first central air conditioner in Valparaiso.

Jim successfully led the company for decades, building a solid reputation as a premier skilled contractor. His legacy has provided countless homes and businesses with custom-designed ductwork and cutting-edge equipment, in addition to prosperous career opportunities for dozens of employees.

January 1, 1990

Allen Kent, Jim's son, began his full-time career at Kent Heating and Air Conditioning. As the second-generation owner of the family-owned business, Allen continued to discover new technologies, specifically in building science and indoor air quality. Partnered with extensive research and new testing procedures, the company was able to offer services helping to improve their customers' quality of life by breathing clean, healthy air.

April 20, 2018

Allen and Karen Kent completed building the new corporate headquarters adjacent to the previous property, a multi-year project. The Greater Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce presented them with a 2018 Community Improvement Award for their efforts.

Glenn and Stacy Evans, employees of the company since 1993 and 1998, respectively, purchased the business following Allen's retirement. It was imperative to all parties to safeguard the company's culture and values, while also ensuring the continued well-being of employees and the community. Protecting the company from a private equity purchase ensured leadership continuity and continued operational success.
